This is the most thoughtful and the most informed article on the JYJ issue that we’ve seen in a long time. Please read to better understand JYJ’s place in the history of the Korean entertainment system, why they are being blocked so thoroughly, and why they must not fail.

The 101 Methods With Which to Drive Out JYJ from Broadcast?
“You say you’ll sing on TV”? JYJ Fanclub Publicizes a Parodying Advertisement

At the situation in which Park Yoochun, Kim Jaejoong, and Kim Junsu, who have withdrawn from TVXQ and are newly active as JYJ, cannot appear on Television, JYJ’s fan club ‘DNBN’ has printed a full-page advertisement in a non-fee newspaper and is becoming a topic of conversation.

This advertisement, which is in the form of a parody of a book’s introducing, is formed in the structure of introducing an imaginary book titled “The 101 Methods With Which to Drive Out JYJ from Broadcast.” The advertisement used phrases of irony such as “You say you’ll sing on TV?” and “Entertainers Who’ve Forgotten Their Place as Contractees, the Perfect Method for Blocking Them from Broadcast, All Revealed” to describe the situation that JYJ currently faces.

JYJ fans are arguing: Through the court decision in 2010 JYJ received the judgment that JYJ must be “guaranteed of freedom in activities without interference,” but that due to the interference of mega-entertainment company SM Entertainment (hereafter, SM) and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (hereafter KFPCAI) which is at the beck and call of SM (T/N: literally, “tries to figure out SM’s mind and be self-conscious”) JYJ is unable to appear on TV.

It is true that KFPCAI is interfering as an association with JYJ’s activities, doing such deeds as sending letters of official demands/requests for its member companies and each broadcast companies to refrain from casting or airing JYJ. Further, is the reality that the broadcasts agencies, at the beck and call of the mega-entertainment companies, too avoid JYJ’s appearances, so that JYJ cannot appear in any proper broadcast programs even though they record #1 on digital music sold. The court commanded that if an entity interferes with JYJ’s activities that it pays 20,000,000 KRW (approximately 20,000 USD) per instance, but it is that the mega-entertainment companies and broadcast companies are not taking it seriously (T/N: literally, think it light-weight).

JYJ is the first case that has quit the current system of mega-entertainment companies. The question of what kind of activities they engage in is an issue that can act as the standard that can change the treatment of many idol stars who are groaning under the so-called “slave contracts,” and as such is an important question for the normalization of the entertainment industry.

However, paradoxically, this has been felt as an anxiety to the entertainment companies who believe that “if JYJ shows the appearance of achieving success outside of SM, it may cause cracks in the current “trainee” system,” and is creating a consensus that whatever it takes, they must“block” JYJ from appearing on TV. This is evaluated to be a kind of a cartel/collusion with the aim thatJYJ must be forced to not succeed so that they become the “example case” with which to clamp down on the trainees and the affiliated entertainers.

It is an issue of attention whether due to the active activities of the JYJ fandom in society that JYJ will step over the contradiction of the entertainment industry and be able to meet with fans on a proper stage in a broader way. JYJ fans have continuously raised the problem of JYJ’s lack of appearance on TV through bus advertisements, subway advertisements, and the like. No matter what happens to the future activities of JYJ, the activities of JYJ fan clubs such as DNBN is worthy of being called the most active and passionate fandom (in history) after the “Seotaiji and the Kids” fan club, and will remain as an important signpost in its recording of the fandom’s societal activities.

[Fanaccount] 110428 ‘Because of TIO, DONG-SUH Food is in Chaos’

Yesterday I ran into an old acquaintance who works for the a chain of stores, luckily he was with an employee of Dong-suh Food, so I asked about TiO’s situation. Kkkkk he said one sentence: “Because of TiO, Dong-Suh Food is taken by storm.” kkkkk

Because he is responsible for sales, he could only talk about the sales. In whatever store, TiO is in shortage, demand is much higher than supply.

In that same day, in some markets, TiO was out of stock. +That’s why, now not only the factories, but also the head office, are working hard, not distinguishing day and night, so that they can supply enough products.

Then he said: “I wonder why so suddenly TiO sells like crazy.”  Then my acquaintance who was next to him, told him that it was because JYJ’s Park Yoochun filmed a CF for TiO kkkkk.

Then he pointed at me and said: “She’s Park Yoochun’s fan. Since Park Yoochun filmed that CF, everyday, JYJ’s fans come to me and ask if my stores still have TiO, they simply live with TiO hanging on their mouth.” (LMAO, I don’t even know if that makes sense, but I don’t want to change it!!!)

When MICKY TIO came out, the fans also began a propaganda: “As long as MICKY endorses for it, the world only has one drink: TiO.”

Then that employee said: “People in factories and head office are restless, and sales employees are terrified.”
“Products sell fast, of course it’s good, but still can’t understand why the sales became good so suddenly?”
“It’s only a seasonal product, so even though knowing it was because of Micky’s CF, the sky-rocketing sales are still astonishing. Is it MICKY effect? We don’t even have spare time to think about it.”
That’s the thoughts of many salesmen kkkk.

The employee repeatedly said: “But really I did not expect that MICKY’s commercial effect could reach that extent.” He also told me that when he would have came back to the head office, in meetings he would definitely talk about MICKY effect as well as the fans’ words, the reactions of consumers.

So I told him “One day one TiO” (1 TiO per day??? LOL), the fans’ reaction, JYJ’s history, and asked their advertising team to make more posters to give to customers when they buy products, they will be extremely happy. I hope that he will suggest that in his meetings.

During one hour that we had been talking about TiO, my pride as a fan was soaring kkkkk.

Oh by the way the fans living in XXX can easily buy TiO. I heard that store has recently opened. Because the sales were still not good, salesmen in other stores always said to her: “Because of TiO, the sales have been increasingly crazily. How about you?” kkkk. And now TiO storage has just arrived.

So the fans living in XXX, if possible, please go there to buy TiO kkkkk

TIO MICKY is the best kkkk

I'm so proud of MICKY!

Famous Korean community site “DC Inside” conducted a survey on the topic “Male Celebrities with super-fine legs which out-shine those of women” for a the past week (19th until the 26th).
Not surprisingly, Jaejoong made the list! He ranked #4 :P (behind SHINee’s Taemin, Big Bang’s G-Dragon, and actor Kang Dongwon).
I wonder how Jaejoong will take this news… he did say his skinny legs was his complex during a recent interview!! ;)

[FULL TRANS] Statement by JYJ’s Attorney, Im Sanghyuk, on Avex

[JYJ3 Note: This interview with the Attorney Im was published in September of 2010. Notice just how consistent JYJ and the people around them have been, all this time. This contrasts dramatically with SM and Avex who have been sopredictably inconsistent, changing their positions and eating their words multiple times.]
[Interview] Attorney Im Sanghyuk, the Legal Representative of the 3 Members
The legal representative of the 3 members, attorney Im Sanghyuk (Lawfirm Sejong) revealed in an interview with this reporter on the 17th that: “Avex demanded multiple times for changes to the contract that the members could not easily accommodate, such as the ratio of profit distributions and more.”
Attorney Im Sanghyuk disclosed: “In particular, even though it was agreed that with regards to the activities of the members all points would be proceeded with upon obtaining consent of both parties through reaching an agreement, among the demands that Avex made were the power to determine the schedule unilaterally, and such other contents which could not be easily accepted on common-sense grounds.”
Attorney Im explained the theory that Avex has put up as the excuse for suspending JYJ’s activities, that the director C-JeS was connected with a gang: “The person in question, Director Paek himself, has gone so far as to notify Avex that if such was really the problem he would get out of the contractual relationship, but Avex did not accept this. In the end, we came to the conclusion that to proceed [with the relationship/discussion with Avex] in a normal manner would be difficult.”
In fact, the members of TVXQ had revealed in a previously-announced press statement that said: “Many months ago, Avex has cited the above reason to demand a contract that excludes C-JeS, and the 3 TVXQ members have accepted this in order to do activities in Japan smoothly and diligently participated in the discussions of renewing the contract.”
Attorney Im said: “If one examines the series of events, there are many circumstances (asserted) by Avex that can only be accepted only when forcibly [stretching one’s logic/imagination]. If Avex refutes this, our side will make public additional contents.”
Attorney Im added: “The essence of this dispute is that contrary to the content of the existing contract, the management company has presented conditions that are unilaterally disadvantageous to the affiliate entertainers and so havesuspended their activities without regard to the intent of the members. Despite this, it is saddening because it seems that the focus is becoming dimmed due to the attention of the public flowing to the director of C-JeS who has no relation to a gang.”
Attorney Im criticized that “it is an immoral deed to tie the feet of TVXQ because Avex cannot fulfill its avarice,” and repeatedly emphasized: “I will put much effort to resolve this without fail so that the 3 members can engage in activities in Japan smoothly.”

[FULL TRANS] Letter from C-JeS to the Japanese Fans Fully Translated

This is Paek Changju, Director of C-JeS Entertainment.
First, I thank you sincerely for sending your deep affection and support to JYJ.
Because of the cessation of the contract with Avex of last year, JYJ’s circumstances are such that they cannot have activities in Japan. Nonetheless we received much support for JYJ’s activities such as the World Wide Album, and we are always holding a thankful heart.
When the whole of the country of Japan was attacked by the large earthquakes of eastern Japan that occurred last month, JYJ, too, was in despair in the sentiment of family.
Also, in order to pay back the love that we’ve received from you the Japanese fans, we’ve come to plan a charity concert that prays for the recovery to come in as few days as possible from the earthquakes of eastern Japan. However, regardless of the intent of us who have proceeded (with the planning) with the thought that we want to help in any way we can, various troubles are occurring, such as the cancellation of the venue of the concert.
Because we caused much inconvenience to those who had been anticipating the concert after the tickets were already sold, we are very sorry.
I, when I thought of the Japanese fans who had waited for the performance of JYJ from long ago, decided that it would not do to show an inadequate performance, and nearly thought that I should cancel the concert. However, in order to keep the promise with the many fans who had trusted in JYJ and had waited for them, I’ve decided to go ahead with the concert.
I will stake every part of myself on this, and will do my best in order for this concert to be implemented safely.
Those of you in Japan, too, please take this concert not as a one-time event but rather a signal that starts the activities of JYJ in Japan in the future.
Therefore, even if the concert’s venue is somewhat poor and inadequate, I ask from the bottom of my heart that you trust in the sincerity of our hearts and support us.
From now on too, JYJ will not yield to this kind of pressure, and will go anywhereif it is a place in which we can have the Japanese fans listen to the music of JYJ.
I, too, in order to live up to the trust of you Japanese fans, in order for you to again hear JYJ’s music and their stories, I will stake every part of myself to fight.
Fans of Japan,
As you’ve been until now, from now on too please be the trustworthy supporters of JYJ and be their strength.
Because we have principles and beliefs (T/N: same word that JJ and YC have on their chests), we can do this.
Paek Changjoo
