[Trans] 110305 3HREE VOICES Staff Blog – Part 3

The 3hree Voices 2 staff has posted another entry on JYJ, this time on Jaejoong.

The below is the translation– <3…

A leader with a strong sense of responsibility, Jaejoong.

One day,

I was heading the studio at Town Shinzyuku.

I had been asked quite suddenly to do an interview *sweatdrop*, so as I drove my car I was talking to my iPhone Voice Memo, (saying) “let’s ask this, let’s ask about that.”

When I entered the studio, there were already quite many of the staff there… perhaps because I did not feel comfortable, I didn't catch that Jaejoong had offered an act of kindness to me (if it was just the usual, this could not have possibly happened… again, *sweatdrop*)

Oh, Jaejoong is saying hello to me… I hurriedly raise my hand.

And, a bit later, preparation finished.

I sat opposite from him.

I was the one who was nervous.

(He said) “Let’s relax” (Huh? Who? The person who’s on edge is me, I guess… *laugh*)…

He (also) dragged out his words for humor (for me)…

I asked a lot of things… Although I had written things down, in that position impromptu questions flowed out from me… such as

“If you were to make a meal for Yoochun, what would you like to make?” or…

“How about for Junsu?”

Because I had asked all the questions I had intended to ask,

When we stood up, we shook hands, and as always, we hugged.

That is the point– which is just like him…

He really communicates his heart with a hug.

But, (Jaejoong was) a bit unconvinced about something,

(and unsurprisingly) a bit later, he (sat down)…

“This (interview) isn't just for Japan, right? I know that Tokyo is the theme, but isn’t the content a bit too skewed to Japan only? Perhaps we should consider/think a bit more about the fans in other countries?”

Amazing… he’s thinking about these kinds of things.

Well, although there weren't any basic problems (with the interview) because the goal was to have Tokyo as an aspect and to draw out their plans for the future…

“Then, should we do it over again?”

With that… sat down again to do it… from the very beginning.

Jaejoong has a very strong sense of responsibility.

Should I say that he is self-aware of (having to be) a leader… it’s that the burden which he must carry is very heavy… Therefore, the “oldest.”

Definitely, Jaejoong is the Eguchi Yosuke from the drama “Under one Roof” (T/N: a popular Japanese drama)… how amazing.

By Jaejoong who is like this, I was moved once again…

[News] 110304 JYJ's Jaejoong Gets Chased by Japanese Fans and

Sohu's entertainment reports state that JYJ, engaged in their lawsuit with SM Entertainment, has had difficulty pursuing activities in Korea. These difficulties include QTV's recent cancellation of their reality show "JYJ's Real TV".

In late February, Jaejoong and Yoochun made their return to Japan after a 6-month absence to film the Japanese edition of their "3HREE VOICES" DVD. For their previous "3HREE VOICES" DVD, released in 2010, the members each visited a different place and introduced it to viewers. Junsu visited Australia, Jaejoong, with SS501's Kim Hyunjoong visited Canada and Yoochun decided to stay in Seoul.

During their 5-day, 4-night stay, Yoochun and Jaejoong visited Odaiba Marine Park, Tokyo Tower, and Bossa Nova, among other places. As the two constantly posted their locations on their Twitters, fans began to crazily chase after them.

Prior to their return to Korea, Jaejoong met up with a few others like actor Yu Shirota, NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa, actor and WaT member Teppei Koike at a Tokyo nightclub. They drank through the night of February 26. Jaejoong befriended these Japanese celebrities while starring in Fuji TV's 2010 Japanese drama, "Sunao ni Narenakute (It's Hard to Say I Love You)". Since he had not seen them for so long, Jaejoong was extremely happy and kept intimately calling Shirota "Yu Yu." The two also conversed for quite a while on Twitter, and Jaejoong posted their group picture from the meet-up.

From the report, sounds like JYJ will be releasing a Japanese edition of "3HREE VOICES".

(OPINION) 110303 The current state and prospects of JYJ affair

JYJ is now the biggest issue maker in Korea as proved by frequent appearance in not only korean portal but also international news sites. During past few days, the issue has become even hotter due to Qtv incidence, 2vxq TV appearance in knee drop guru and internet broadcasting station, etc. Sometimes, they even made on main, taking into an account how anxiously korean portal site pull down JYJ related articles, it is almost extraordinary.
All these happenings are not just by chance, though. Incidences of Qtv and 2vxq TV program signify how desperate SM is. On the other hand, JYJ internet broadcasting station is just a proof that JYJ fandom is now entering a new period of enforcement. Even more substantial is the evidence supported by each news dealing with Qtv or 2vxq issue,plainly being a manifestation of SM’s influence. In contrast, internet broadcasting station related news appear as a pure expression of pleasant surprises.
I was interestingly amused by prospects for enlarged scope of battle as well as changed attitude of media. As we know, this battle has become a fight between JYJ fandom and SM. Unlike the precedent cases, JYJ fandom has proved to be not tractable and created a new paradigm of korean pop culture. Judging from abundant news articles, columns and tweets posts coming out recently, it is evident that the scope of battle is no longer limited within JYJ fandom and SME, but extended as much b/w progressive opinion leaders advocating fairness of society and established power wanting to maintain unfair system. As much desirable outcome as it is, we feel it also beyond expectation ever perceived.
Now, our children (JYJ) has become an icon of resistance standing up to the unfairness of social system. Ironically, that outcome is greatly indebted to outrageous activity of SM more than JYJ or their fans. All we wanted was JYJ singing freely on stage, but SM fed up with no intelligence but arrogance has done a marvelous job making themselves an icon of unfair social system. Therefore, I judge that this battle is now beyond what SM could have dealt with. They now have to risk not only losing 3 talented laborers but also degradation of company image and ultimately diminished power. Only way for SM to withdraw with the least damage is being RATIONAL for the sake of company and its many young talents.
(comment 1) I agree. I know some fans are feeling uncomfortable about the appearance of conflict b/w social groups. However, it was exactly such a realization of defective social system which motivated me to be a hardcore fan because I wanna contribute for the kind of society in which I wish for my own children to live.
(comment 2) In history, revolution never meant to be as it turned out. It always started from small struggles, which was unexpectedly evolved into revolutionary path, through casual or intentional ALLIANCE. It should be kept in mind: what eventually made it possible was proper alliance b/w justifiable cause of individuals and constructive/POLITICAL force at its right timing. We are now the body of modern politics on the way of consumer’s revolution in cultural sector. We have not even taken out the final decisive card they fear the most. They better humbly take our advice to stop at this point.
(comment 3) I think it is now too late for SM to withdraw. Even many acquaintances of mine who used to laugh at my fangirling are becoming very interested in this issue.

[News] 110304 DBSK, did they cast a curse on Knee-Drop-Guru?

As time passes by, more people are criticizing DBSK’s appearance on <Knee-drop Guru>.  MBC’s overall crisis has also reached the entertainment section, and MBC has been unable to shake off its anxious appearance.  How will <Knee-drop Guru>, a program which continues to incite controversy by maximizing bias, collapse?

<Knee-drop-guru> has become biased, is it suffering from arthritis?

Many assess that after 4 years of running, <Knee-drop Guru>, which gained the ultimate popularity with Kang HoDong’s vigor, is nearing its end.  Although there were very wonderful episodes, <Knee-drop Guru> is currently facing a crisis its limits with frequent repetitions of episodes that aren't just unfortunate, but annoying.

Sick of <Knee-drop Guru> cleaning up celebrities’ mess

It’s become a common practice for celebrities with past problems to use show programs to create well-publicized issues when they are about to begin their new activities.  <Knee-drop Guru> can only be a program that celebrities prefer the most.  They appear alone, talk about the things that they want, and the program transforms their conversations into heart-warming stories, allowing them to receive the public’s sympathy vote.

They say that they talk about things in a strong way, but they never air about things that no one knows about, and a program riddled with conversation of a reasonable standard about a curious topic that everyone knows about might be interesting once or twice, but there is a clear limit to continue such a program for a long time.

For celebrities, <Knee-drop Guru> may just be a place that they relieve their worries.  It might be very fulfilling for themselves, but for others it leaves a very bad smell and make them feel uncomfortable.  A place that allows people to talk about their worries does give a fair chance, but if you consider that such a place isn't a place than everyone can be happy together, but a secret place for one person to feel satisfaction, this program has a nasty habit of publicly making people watch a celebrity feeling satisfied by his/herself.

A writer not from <Knee-drop Guru>, but <Radio Star>, a program within the same category, has also caused a big controversy with her messages on twitter.  People could only feel outraged by her explicit criticism of JYJ and harsh verbal abuse.

No one believes that Twitter is a place where your personal privacy is respected.  With a writer who wrote obvious praise toward SM in a place where everyone can see, many could only doubt the program’s ability to remain neutral.  Such an atmosphere could only have an effect on <Knee-drop Guru>’s bias or make people consider the program to be on the same level.

With touching emotions and even entertainment value lost from the program, it seems difficult that we will be able to be touched in the way Ahn Chulsu’s episode did.  DBSK, who appeared in such a situation, ended up only adding fuel to the growing controversy.  Their reason for appearing in the program is vague, and the things they said in <Knee-drop Guru> was neither special nor interesting, but only caused uneasiness for its viewers.

By delivering SM’s opinions in a one sided fashion, the program created lots of controversies by causing misunderstandings amongst people who knew nothing about the facts of the situation.  The main part which could only incite controversy were the parts of the program when they referred to JYJ.  All their opinions on JYJ were statements representing SM’s point of view.

Stating that JYJ forced a very successful DBSK into despair and betrayed members, that they've shared joys and sorrows with, for their selfish greed can only be a one-sided opinion.  With JYJ being plainly blocked in their activities, it is not proper to show only one side’s opinions as if it was fair.

Although Kang HoDong emphasized that such opinions were the two members’ own individual opinions, a program which portrayed the two members as victims and JYJ as the worst by condemning SM, a progressive company, as being shameless, can only be problematic.  Although the courts ruled that JYJ is lawful and ordered SM to pay 20 million KRW for each time they interfere with JYJ’s activities, large management companies seem to think that they are above the law and controlling even broadcasting networks.

<Knee-drop Guru>, which has been wasting precious air time by cleaning up celebrities messes, need to find ways to fundamentally change the programs and rethink about the purpose of their program.  We cannot know if the program will head to its doom or use this as a chance to reinvent itself, but I am curious whether <Knee-drop Guru>, a program that can’t seem to escape controversy, will be able to reclaim its past ability to move and entertain audiences at the same time.

Will <Knee-drop Guru> be able to end the controversies about its biased nature by casting JYJ as many have requested?  In reality, it is very unlikely that they will make such a choice.  Even if the program is forced to end, they will most likely not choose JYJ.  A program which consistently acts to damage its own status can only be considered as loosing its hold on life.

Will the <Knee-drop Guru> ever escape from controversies about its bias and the belief that it’s a program which one-sidedly forgives problematic celebrities?  Will we ever able to meet a <Knee-drop Guru> both moving and entertaining its audiences again?

[News] 110303 TVXQ said at Knee-Drop Guru (MBC) that they didn’t know about the lawsuit. Is it true?

Last night (02 MAR), TVXQ Act 2 [Yunho & Changmin] appeared on a TV talk show called ‘Golden Fishery - Knee-Drop Guru’ (MBC). During this show, they explained their feelings about the lawsuit and said, “we did not know about their lawsuit at all.”  This became a controversy (yet again) in Korea because there are many evidences that the all five tried to leave SM at first.

We would like to share this article translated in English, as international fans must have wondered that what happened in Korea yesterday and why it was such a big fuss among the Korean fans.

Also We want to be clear that fans do not criticize the two members’ choice to stay at SM.  They are all responsible adults, and free to choose whatever they want.

Fans just wanted them to respect each other’s choice and fans’ affection for the memories of TVXQ Act1 because it was precious to all of us.

It’s hurting enough that we need to defend the members against these rumors and attacks made by the same people we once thought were fans of TVXQ, and even more hurting because it is the own member of TVXQ who diminish our memory of Act 1.

We hope this helps you to understand what happened in Korea yesterday.

MBC's Golden Fishery - Knee-Drop Guru [Murupak - 무릎팍도사]
TVXQ: “We did not know about their [JYJ] lawsuit.” Is this true?
03 MAR, 2011 / Moneytoday [Reports Ye Hyun Kim]

TVXQ (Yunho, Changmin) explained their hurt feelings about JYJ (Jaejoong/Yuchun/Junsu)’s lawsuit at MBC TV ‘Golden Fishery - Knee-Drop Guru’ which was aired on March 2, 2011.  But their comments on the lawsuit became a controversy among the netizens soon after the program.

Yunho and Changmin said that “We did not know about their [JYJ’s] lawsuit when they submitted an application for provisional injunction against the company[SM].”
It could have worked out for the better, but we’re sorry [about the three] that we could not continue our activities as the five-member TVXQ due to JYJ’s extreme choice [lawsuit],” on this program.

They insisted that they did not know about the provisional injunction to terminate the validity of the exclusive contract, but fans of JYJ and people who are interested in TVXQ have produced contrary evidences against this.

The presented evidences are
     1) an article in Japanese newspaper,
     2) interview with JYJ’s judicial representative and;
     3) full statement released by Yunho’s father.

The last schedule of the five members as TVXQ was ‘NHK 紅白歌合戦’ in Japan on December 31, 2009 and ‘Sponichi’, Japanese newspaper spotlighted TVXQ’s breakup the next day.

The article said that AVEX (TVXQ’s Japanese management company) admitted: they [all members of TVXQ] notified us [AVEX] in August 2008 that all five would leave SM together, so we think they are still one at heart.  There are possibilities that they might have new activities together in the future.”  According to this, Yunho and Changmin had tried to leave SM with JYJ but changed their mind to stay at SM later.

Also the statement of Yunho’s father (released on November 1, 2009) was presented as another contrary evidence.  It stated that “the greed toward cosmetic business is their [JYJ] reason to leave TVXQ and the three kept suggesting us to leave together since February, 2009.”   Changmin’s father also wrote in the statement, “the three members filed an injunction only because of their financial benefit from cosmetic business.”  This statement has been presented for supporting evidence too.

A netizen (ID ‘buf***’) commented that “It is nonsense that Yunho, the former leader of TVXQ did not know about the lawsuit at all while everyone including fans, their parents, SM and AVEX knew about it.”

DC TVXQ Gallery also posted those evidence in Korean and English real-time, using their Anti-rumor Tactics & Monitory Division’s blogs and twitter.

Most people said in unison, “true neutrality can only be established when the two parties can both appear on the show fairly.  JYJ also should be able to talk about their story on TV.”

Meanwhile, SM was ordered by the court not to interfere with JYJ’s entertainment activities and pay 20 million KRW for each interference it had made.  However, JYJ are still having difficulties in making appearances on TV, including the latest cancellation of their real documentary program which was supposed to be aired on cable TV in February.

[INF0] Bangkok JYJ Concert Pre-sale Sold out in 20 mins!

I tried buying tickets to the Bangkok concert of JYJ through a friend in Thailand.  Unfortunately, I was not able to get any.  I just got a text message from a cassie friend and she informed me that tickets for the Pre-sale was sold out in 20 minutes!

Great job Thai JYJ Fans!  I hope you save some for us -- foreign fans!  I will definitely try again during the next round of ticket sales.

Even the court cannot free the invisible shackles enslaving JYJ

Hankook Ilbo, March 2, 2011.
[Report by Ji Eun Choi, cje@hk.co.kr]

“There would be no end if we try to go into all this…” A staff at C-jeS Entertainment, the agency of JYJ(Jaejoong/Yuchun/Junsu) from TVXQ was very unforthcoming on the phone interview, on March 2, 2011. I expected that they would react furiously after the cancellation notification of JYJ’s real documentary program from Q-TV, but their reaction was completely opposite. C-JeS only announced that “the JYJ reality program that was intended to show the up-close and personal aspects of JYJ’s recent life and everyday lifestyle has been cancelled.” on its website, and has been refraining from taking more action after the cancellation. It is not the first time for JYJ to have these kinds of unfair treatment during the this conflict with their former management company, SM Entertainment. But how bad is the retaliation that they can’t even say about a word after a wrong has been done to them even if they have gotten used to it?
JYJ’s documentary was scheduled to be broadcast in February under the title  “JYJ’s Real 24.” It was not a major broadcasting channel but it held a special meaning for them who had not been able to make appearances on TV after releasing their first album “The Beginning.” Also fans looked forward to the program when it was said that JYJ, whose private life have mostly remained hidden behind a veil, would reveal their private life including the insides of their houses. Everything seemed to go smoothly as QTV promoted the show extensively through it website. Then, the premier show date was delayed until finally the show itself was canceled. QTV stated that “our broadcasting company did not produced the show, and the show was simply canceled due to scheduling conflicts with our other programs. There was no external pressure.” However, no one is buying into their story.
JYJ were almost blocked completely on their appearances on music and entertainment programs despite their huge popularity. They only appeared on cultural programs or morning shows such as ‘Good morning of BAE Gi Wan/CHO Hyoung Gi/CHOI Young Ah.’ In the end, fans of JYJ made an internet broadcast for JYJ planned to launch on March 3, 2011. Producers of broadcast company say that the root of this invisible shackles enslaving JYJ is an organized interference from the large management company SME. Last month, SM was ordered by the court not to interfere with JYJ’s entertainment activities and pay 20 million KRW for each interference it had made. However, everyone guessed wrong when they thought that JYJ would be free for their activities. In the light of the fact that Q-TV suddenly canceled the show after a big promotion, it seems that JYJ will continue to have difficulties in future appearance on TV.
Recently, JYP Entertainment accepted the apology of Jay Park (Jae Beom Park who left 2PM due to the controversy about his privacy) and requested that KFPCAI release him from the restraints imposed on his entertainment activities. This news was packaged nicely and reported as ‘an admirable story’ where the conflicts between the two parties were finally resolved peacefully after over a year. However, it’s more like a horrifying tale that demonstrated how someone could end his/her career in the media if he/she has been singled out by a large management company. Is there no way of stopping this tyranny of the giant management companies that ignore even the court’s ruling?

[FanAccount] Jaejoong Goes on Survival Trip with Friends for JYJ’s Real24

A person who seems to work at a center that provides leisure sports and survival games called “Team W” has written an entry about his encounter with Jaejoong.  Jaejoong visited Team W with his friends to play survival games and other sports as a part of his shooting of JYJ’s Real24.

The writer is not well acquainted with either TVXQ or JYJ, but he was very struck by Jaejoong and his descriptions of Jaejoong are worth reading.  The blog entry has beautiful pictures of Jaejoong, so please go check it out here.  The pictures have on them a statement that says that they should not be distributed, so we do not re-publish the pictures here.  Nonetheless the pictures, like Jaejoong, are beautiful.

Full translation below.

The sudden, yet not coincidental meeting of that day was due to the shooting of JYJ’s Real 24′s (the program is said to change in the future). (T/N: The writer knows that QTV cancelled the program as will be revealed below.)

<pic>

I’m a bit puzzled as to whether I should call him Hero Jaejoong of JYJ or Hero Jaejoong of Formerly TVXQ, but anyways…

<pic>

Even though it was our first meeting, he greeted me courteously with a bright smile.

There were frequent requests for his autograph during the shoot, and

there were many and continuous requests by people to take a picture with him.

Despite this, without a single show of irritation, with kind manners,

contrary to (what one would expect from) an entertainer who has received such big love at a young age,

Hero Jaejoong, one by one, did his fans service, with care.

<pic>

Hero Jaejoong and his friends who had visited Team W (T/N: The location of the shooting and the writer’s likely place of employment)

were supposed to proceed with Survival and ATV Leisure Sport.

As for the Leisure Sport, the strength of the ice was actually good with some of the survival games, and so they got on the Iceink ATV (T/N: seems to refer to the vehicle)

<pic>

Not only for the “chicken fight” of the warm-up game,

but also in the “Survival Game” of the survival games (T/N: seems to refer to a specific type of survival games),

Hero Jaejoong won #1.

<pic>

Although he said that nowadays he couldn't do sports (T/N: seems to mean “work out”) as much as before,

aside from the shooting, even from the perspective of the instructor

Jaejoong had an instinct for sports that was superior to any man in his twenties.

<pic>

It is the same when other people come as well…

but Team W always feel our hearts swell when

we see that the people who've come to visit leave having enjoyed their stay.

That day too was just another day in which we felt a sense of accomplishment

at seeing the joy of Hero Jaejoong and his friends.

<pic>

The travel story of Hero Jaejoong and his friends were, I heard, supposed to air on X Cable Station, but the air date was continuously getting delayed.

In the end, I heard that the channel was supposed to change (T/N: the writer is likely trying to use a euphemism here to soften his prose– he probably does know that the program is absolutely cancelled and not merely transferred),

and I became curious as to the reason and searched around,

and (found that) there were various stories by many people.

<pic>

Aside from who is telling the truth and who's telling the lie,

whether there was a force that cannot be seen or not,

aside from all battles about truth,

I felt only too regretful that the dreams of a young man in his twenties, full of passion and spirit,

has come to suffer due to things that were not intended.

<pic>

I was not an enthusiastic fan of TVXQ in the past,

but Hero Jaejoong of that day–

He was someone who knows  how to

share joyful laughs with friends,

answer with a smile to the fans, adult or child, and their support,

enjoy sports and devote himself to work with diligence.

<pic>

With this meeting serving as the opportunity,

I personally, and Team W too,

became a fan of Hero Jaejoong.

I hope that there will be a happy, happy ending in which

Hero Jaejoong, JYJ, and all members of TVXQ can smile…

“Eldest son Jaejoong… middle child Yoochun… youngest child Junsu”

My image of Junsu was different after I met him.
After seeing him on that amazing stage, I thought that, with that kind of talent, it would be hard to get close to him…

He is so pure and honest, just like a cute little brother of mine (sorry, please don’t get mad)… LOL

Moreover, you just can’t hate him.

Jaejoong was sitting in front of me and Yoochun was sitting on his left.
I would say that Yoochun is like a staff officer of leader Jaejoong? (It’s my first image of them. That time was my first time meeting them).

Then, Junsu was sitting by himself on the sofa on the left… putting his legs on the sofa relaxingly.

Then, regarding the Tokyo theme, when we started to ask each of them about where they want to go, whom they want to meet, what kind of thoughts they have at each place… they got excited.

Glancing at Junsu on the left, he was sulking because he would be all by himself… Jaejoong and Yoochun will go to Tokyo together, but because of his conflicting schedule, Junsu will go by himself.

While the other 2 are troubling the staffs, being excited saying stuffs like “I want to go to the hot spring!  I want to go to the hauted house Fuji Q Highland (T/N: which, btw, is the world’s largest haunted house)! I want to go to to Okinawa! I want to go to Egypt!”, Junsu was sulking like “Hmmm I will be by myself”… LOL

Then, Jaejoong stood up, walked to Junsu and gave him a hug.

Jaejoong is so gentle… Junsu who was acting a bit like a spoiled child also gives all his trust to Jaejoong… then, Yoochun was also smiling looking over them.

It’s that time that I felt like they’re just like cute puppies who are innocent and playful.
I think Jaejoong is like an older brother to Junsu who also makes him happy.  I could feel their brotherhood there.  Now that I think about it, Yoochun is like the middle child amongst the 3 of them, and Junsu would be the youngest one.

In order word, they have a strong unity… They are tied with a strong sense of mutual trust… That kind of relationship is a solid one.  They all have different characteristics, but when you put them together, they are JYJ… There’s no doubt that they show a terrifically strong power.

That’s why I wanted to join them yesterday… The aura that the 3 of them give off is very amazing.

[Info] Avex Deliberately Won’t Put JYJ Memories DVD on Oricon

It has been more than a year since Avex Entertainment announced its decision to put a stop to JYJ’s activities.  Since then JYJ have not been able to do any substantial activities in Japan.

Nonetheless, even though Avex has barred JYJ from doing entertainment activities in Japan under their label, it has released many products that heavily feature JYJ and are highly profitable.  The recent DVD titled “JYJ Memories in 2010″ is an example.

Despite the DVD’s apparently popularity due to its featuring JYJ, the DVD is not on the Oricon Chart.

A Japanese fan who thought that this was strange made an inquiry with Avex and received the following response:

Translation in order:

Avex declared (to me) in a phone conversation with its customer center that: “because we refrain from engaging in any promotional activities for artists whose activities are on halt, (since we put JYJ’s activities on halt) we will not do any kind of promotional activities of this product (JYJ Memories in 2010 DVD).”

I had a phone conversation with Avex. The answer of the male at the Customer Center: “The Oricon Chart is a form of promotional activities. Because we have announced the cessation of the artist’s activities and so are refraining from engaging in any kind of promotional activities, we did not put (the DVD) on the Oricon Chart.”

————————————-

Korean fans have long lamented that Avex keeps making profits off of JYJ in Japan while blocking them from having a career in Japan. The recent DVD is yet another example.

[News] 110302 Interview with Junsu

Kim Junsu “Acting has a different fascination to compare with singing but it’s still difficult to me. When I’m immersed in my role, I shed tears naturally.”

It’s such a sad love story. When I was immersed in my role, I shed tears without even realizing it because it was too sad.

Xiah Junsu of TVXQ turns into a musical actor Kim Junsu and he is enjoying a tremendous popularity.

He plays a mournful love as a Jun, the hero at the large creative musical ‘Tears of Heaven’, which is now on performing amidst rising popularity.

He said, “At the first performance, on Feb 1, I shed tears without even realizing it because it was too sad. Most of the audience was on the verge of tears.” and “Before I knew it, tears are really falling from my eyes when I’m acting on the scene to part with lover.”

We asked him ‘do you think which is harder, singing or acting?’  He told his difficulties of acting “it’s also hard to sing a song but it’s harder to act.  It’s so much harder to sing with acting and I think that it requires much efforts.  The most difficult part is to express emotions in detail and I think that it can be possible to fall into that.

In the internal musical industry, his influence is huge.  Tens of thousands tickets that he performs were sold out for just a few minutes.

The role of Jun is acted by Kim Junsu and other 2 actor like Chon Dongsuk.  He is playing just 17 times of whole 53 performances.  His fans are obliged to buy an illegal ticket to watch his performance.

After hearing about it, he told “To my fans, I feel sorry about that.  And to mitigate inconvenience for my fans, I should perform on the stage just a couple of times more... but there are actually lots of problems.

He said to explain the reason “Musical performance is a hard work due to singing a song with acting.  Especially, I’m not overworking to preserve my voice. To control my condition, actually I don’t perform on the stage a lot.

He told that “It is an unavoidable choice to keep my best condition.  I feel so sorry for my fans.

Official of the production company said “Some fans want to watch Junsu’s performance after watching other actor’s performance.  There’s a craze for re-watching it.”  But his parts of whole performances are already sold out.

Many top-class creators who work on the Broadway are joining this musical.

He said “‘the Mozart’ that I performed last year was already successful abroad but ‘Tears of Heaven’ is more interesting to me because of the process to change and modify its scenario.  I feel like making it one by one.

He added “It was so hard that singing in the musical is too much different to do as a singer when I started to perform in the ‘the Mozart!’ So I complemented it more after I learned a lot on the actual stage.

Brad Little, one of top-class actor in Broadway, who plays with Junsu in the musical highly praised like this. “His acting is very natural and he has the ability to interact with the audience.”

He is not an actor.  And he is not also a professional musical actor. But his attraction gripping ability that captivates the audience far surpass other actors.  That’s the ability that he has.

Kim Gwang-soo, the producer of ‘Tears of Heaven’ lavished praise on Junsu. “He is a great actor in the musical part.  The audience simply doesn't come to watch just him.  They come to watch the musical with his acting and singing.  After performance, almost all of them wipe their tears with a handkerchief.  It means that he has a great acting ability, of course singing ability also.”

He shows kiss scenes with Lee Hae-ree (or Yoon Gong-joo).  At the early rehearsal, he was very ashamed after a kiss scene.

He told about it “There were four kiss scenes in ‘Mozart’.  At this time, there are twice or three times.  Actually, I felt a little bit sorry in those days.

And he added “Honestly, because of my fans, I was worried about it.  But it’s just an acting.  So that’s okay to be absorbed in the musical.  However, sometimes I feel sorry for Hae-ree or Gong-joo.

At that time, Brad advised to shy Junsu.. “Practice it several times!” It made us laugh

We asked that ‘You can’t feel difficulty to communicate with Brad, can you?  How much can you understand English?’  He answered “I can’t speak English well.  So an interpreter helps me a lot.  But sometimes there’s no need to help.  Because there are acting and songs in the musical, we can see each other by looking in the eyes.  At first, I was really worried about acting in English.  But director said to me ‘Because Jun went to Vietnam for a war, it is more realistic to use Konglish (it means broken English used by Koreans)’ I also think that speaking Konglish is more natural.  It’s just as well that I can’t speak English well.”

And he told about Brad “Despite him being a top-class actor in the musical industry of the world, he gets along with others.  And he also shows to learn and to communicate with younger people.  I’d like to grow older like him.”

Meanwhile, he told about the situation after breakup.  “I had a really hard time.  Everybody has both good and hard moment in his lifetime.  I also had a crisis.  It happened last year and the year before last year. It was really hard time but I learned many things from it.  I’ll be happy and I’ll try to work hard.  After that, I've lost many things, especially people around me.  However, on the other hand, I've got the people who trust me in spite of what happened.

Junsu plays the man who devotes himself to loving just one woman.

He told about the experience to love “I never think about love lightly.  The most important thing is to be truthful..”

He said.. “In former days, there were some entertainers.  She didn't tell me directly but she gave off that she likes me.  There was a member of girl group but it wasn't accomplished.  There was a female entertainer that I liked but I couldn't date her.  I regard the personality besides appearance.”

Now he is working as JYJ with Jaejoong and Yuchun instead of TVXQ’s name.
