In Korea, there are currently 3 major(comprehensive) broadcasting channels, KBS, MBC and SBS (p.s.YTN and MBN are cable channel specializing in News, which is different from comprehensive channels).
ChoSun, JoongAng and DongA are 3 mar newspapers, the hardcore Conservative political propensity of which are well known and subjected to critical debate.
MB government legislated a NEW LAW generating 5 additional comprehensive broadcasting channels, allegedly to favor`ChoJoongDong`with channel rights, which has come to pass by now (p.s.Qtv is a TV branch of JoongAng).
Speculated outcome is (1) stabilization of`iron triangle ' comprised of Conservative media + Conservative politics + Monopolistic market power; (2) subordination of media to capital as a result of competitive commercial market.It is also a common talk among Conservative party leaders that with 'ChoJoongDong channel', winning of coming general and presidential election is guaranteed.
These new born channels are about to launch soon. Their utmost interest would be survival based on ratings. However, they are not capable of comprehensive operation as the same as KBS, MBC and SBS. Inevitably, they have to rely on entertainment companies such as SM, JYP and YG. Otherwise, how could they supply necessary entertainers?
So, we may as well ask how would this situation affect JYJ? The best of best which we can hope for is : 'ChoJoongDong cartel' GO bankrupt together with their partner entertainment companies!!!!!
