SBS Wednesday and Thursday drama series Rooftop Prince won the victory of becoming the champion of top ratings among dramas broadcasting at the same time slot. From the nearly 7% gap with the first ranking drama in episode 1, to overtaking in episode 6, the reversal happens in such a short time frame.
Not only in viewership ratings, Rooftop Prince also achieves overwhelming victory in competition for discussion topics. The acting of JYJ’s Park Yuchun, Han Ji Min and other actors continue to receive praises, and other actors have also shown interest in the drama.
The ‘whipped cream’ was sold out just because it was shown in the drama. As such, the sponsors of the drama are very happy. The shredded chicken noodle endorsed by Park Yoochun and NII sponsored clothing wore by Ha Ji Min in the drama have seen rising sales figure when the TV series began its airing. Firstly, the drama has high level of perfection. The screenplay writer Lee Hee Myung is a highly anticipated scriptwriter who is known as great in producing romantic series. Audience has exclaimed over the content written by him that does not have plot dragging incident. Secondly, it’s the result of meticulous actors. During the broadcast of episode 3, netizens were surprised on the fine acting by the actors. Crown prince (Park Yoochun) met Se Na (Jung Yoo Mi) who looks exactly the same with crown princess, but the ending scene when the crown prince been pulled away by the guard, is overlapped with the scene of crown princess who screamed under such situation, and the actor who pulled the crown prince in the past and present is the same person. The filming of the two scenes separated by almost a month, but used the same character, showing the attention to details in acting. The perfect acting of Yoochun in the final scene of episode 3 surprised viewers, the ability to perform was shocking.
Lastly, is the passionate performance by the actors. Both Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min play two roles by a single person in different time and place, although it’s not easy, but they manage to perform perfectly the funniness, sadness and love in the drama. Lee Tae Sung and Jung Yoo Mi also won praise for the acting that pushed the tension to a climax. Furthermore, the comical acting by three court officials traveled from Joseon Dynasty, Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho), Do Chi San (Choi Woo Sik), and Woo Yong Sul (Jung Suk Won), produced the drama in perfection. On the shooting scene, even if the filming schedule is tight, but actors who face the filming with cheerful smile are getting closer and closer.
