[TRANS] JYJ, aiming for 4 OST strikes in a row..’new OST lord’

Group JYJ is aiming for 4 OST daebaks in a row. 

Following the OST of ‘Scent of Woman part 2′ that Kim Junsu participated, the OST ‘I’ll protect you’ by Kim Jaejoong, who is currently appearing in ‘Protect the Boss’ as Cha Muwon, is going to be revealed in the 3rd episode on the 10th. 

On the 5th, as soon as Kim Junsu’s ‘You are so beautiful’ was released on various music sites, it recieved big attention. 

Before that, last June, Park Yoochun sang ‘Miss Ripley”s theme song ‘Place left out for you’, sweeping the first place in every realtime music charts, and won as much popularity as the drama.

Also, the OST of ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’-which presented Park Yoochun with a Rookie of the Year award-gained unusual sales for a drama OST, prooving their popularity. 

It is predicted that JYJ’s OST power is going to continue for a while, as Kim Jaejoong is also releasing a drama OST. Kim Jaejoong, who’s talent was recognized through writing JYJ’s songs and participating in the worldtour as the director, is planning to win women’s heart by singing ‘I’ll protect you’, which is going to be responsible for the drama’s romantic mellow story and which he wrote the lyrics. 

The general opinion is that JYJ’s rich emotions and appealing vocal talents help to bring in the viewers into the drama, and gains even more power because they do not only sing the OST, but also appear in the drama. Also, JYJ’s OST has an explosive power, as it is like a present to their fans when JYJ is banned from appearing in music shows.

JYJ Continues to Make Strides on Drama OSTs

Following the success of JYJ Junsu’s latest single, “You Are So Beautiful,” from SBS drama “Scent of a Woman,” the entire K-pop industry is now turning heads to see if drama OSTs will become a new winning strategy for the trio.

According to JYJ’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, Junsu’s “You Are So Beautiful” has swept all Korean music charts immediately upon release on August 5th. It didn’t just dominate music portals such as Naver and Daum Music, but it’s also topped various online music charts including Dosirak, Melon, Bugs, and Cyworld.

But this is not the first drama OST track by JYJ to make strides in K-Pop. Last June, when Yoochun sang “A Space Left for You,” the theme song for his drama “Miss Ripley,” it dominated most Korean online sites. Also, JYJ was featured in the OST album for Yoochun’s other drama, “Sung Kyun Kwan Scandal,” which recorded impressive sales numbers for a drama OST.

And now Jaejoong is reported to have participated in the production of the OST of SBS drama “Protect the Boss.” Jaejoong is expected to boost the popularity of the drama with his song writing and singing skills.

“JYJ’s emotional vocal skills help viewers to completely immerse themselves in the drama. When JYJ members actually star in the drama, it adds more power to their vocals and the overall quality of the show,” an official from the drama’s production crew said.

“I think part of the reason JYJ’s so popular with OST albums is because it’s so hard to see them on TV. It helps promote the drama because any song released by JYJ sparks massive fan interest,” the official added.

Junsu is making his drama debut in a cameo role for the August 6th episode of SBS drama “Scent of a Woman.” Jaejoong is currently in SBS “Protect the Boss” that has recorded impressive TV ratings in the first two episodes this week. Yoochun has already starred in popular dramas such as MBC “Miss Ripley” and KBS “Sung Kyun Kwan Scandal.”

The song that was sung by Kim Junsu, who participated in the SBS ‘Scent of a Woman’ OST Part 2, released on the 5^th, has led to a great response on the music charts.

After the release on the 5^th, Kim Junsu’s “You Are So Beautiful” became an instant leader on all the real time music charts.

Kim Junsu’s song is the main theme for the terminally ill heroine, and has become the talk of music communities across the globe.

In July, JYJ”s Park Yoochun sang MBC ‘Miss Ripley’s theme song “Empty Space for You”, which dominated in the number 1 position on all real-time charts and enjoyed the same large popularity as the drama itself.

In addition, last year Park Yoochun took the rookie award for the drama “Sunkyungkwan Scandal”, for which the JYJ members participated in the OST. The OST recorded a rare amount of high sales and proved to be incredibly popular.

In the current SBS drama “Protect the Boss”, the much loved member Kim Jaejoong, who plays the role of Cha Muwon, will be participating in the upcoming OST and is expected to continue on the selling power of JYJ. Kim Jaejoong will soon use his abilities as a singer-songwriter to act as a catalyst to the increase in the drama’s popularity.

Officials from drama productions have said “JYJ is filled with rich emotion, and their emotive singing abilities as well as their appearances have a great positive influence over the drama overall,” as well as “Though it is regretful that we cannot meet JYJ on music broadcasts, their popularity is reflected from the explosive reaction that occurs every time that they participate in a drama OST and from a producers perspective, they are really seen as good luck cards”.
