Over the weekend, “Rooftop Prince,” “Fashion King,” and “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” fans were delighted with a video that compiled scenes from the three dramas to make a story of its own. Titled “Rooftop’s Fashion King,” the video went viral in Korea, humoring fans. Similar to “Rooftop Prince’s” plot, Park Yoo Chun and his entourage travel 300 years into the future and ends up at Yoo Ah In’s attic room. The video cleverly overlaps and edits scenes from “Rooftop Prince” and “Fashion King.”
Netizens who’ve seen the video commented, “Wow, that’s amazing,” “It’s a whole new story,” “I can’t believe how the lines fit so well,” and more.
A representative of SBS’s drama department stated, “When we first watched ‘Rooftop’s Fashion King,we thought we couldn’t believe our eyes and ears. We thought we were watching a whole new drama. We’re very thankful to the person who created this because it’s helping both dramas. Recently, ‘Rooftop Prince’ took the lead for the ratings during Wed/Thurs nights, we’re hoping ‘Fashion King’ follows in the ‘Rooftop Prince’s’ footsteps and takes the lead for Mon/Tues nights as well.”

It totally works, on all fronts — Rooftop, Fashion King, AND Sungkyunkwan. So now you have Yoochun running around Seoul trying to get Ah-in to reverse his spell, and they keep bickering back and forth all the time, which you know is just a prelude to the love part.
girlfriday: I love that there’s actually a fashion show sequence in both shows that fits perfectly.
javabeans: And the omurice feeding! How Ah-in kicks him out, then feels bad and feeds him. I love how Yoochun watches Ah-in eating and comments how pretty he looks eating. How appropriate that it’s Yoochun who breaks the gender taboo in both dramas, being up-front about his feelings…
girlfriday: And the look on his face when he sees him get into bed shirtless? Followed by the declaration that he’s going to live there now. Hee.
javabeans: Cheeky punk. Then Yoochun sees Ah-in being manhandled by that punk Lee Je-hoon, and gets all hot ‘n bothered.

KBS 2TV‘s popular drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘ will be remade into a made-for-TV movie!
The drama came away with seven different awards at the ’2011 Korea Drama Awards‘ and was also the first Korean mini-series to advance in the ‘2012 New York Film Festival‘. To celebrate its achievements, the drama will be re-edited into a two part movie.
Unlike the drama, the movie will focus specifically on the relationship between Park Yoochun and Park Min Young.
The movie airs on March 14th.

KBS’s series Sungkyunkwan Scandal recently went into the finals at the ’2012 New York TV Festival’ and drew a lot of attention.
The series was written by writer Jung Eun Kwol, who also wrote MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday series The Moon Embracing the Sun. It started airing on August 30, 2010 and was loved by many people.
The series was especially loved by female viewers receiving a female audience rating of 10 percent while receiving a male audience rating of only 4 percent. Park Yoo Chun, Yoo Ah In, and Song Joong Ki captured many women’s hearts and the series was very popular in Japan. As a result, the series received the Hallyu Prize at the ’2011 Seoul Drama Awards.’
The final result for the ’2012 New York TV Festival’ will be announced in March and the award ceremony will be held on April 17 in Las Vegas, the United States.
KBS’s Korea, China, Japan, Writing a New History of the Three Kingdoms for Millennium Generation received the Silver Prize in the history category at the 2011 festival and Korean Ghost Stories received the Gold Prize in the TV movie and drama category in 2010.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal Appears as a Listening Question on College Entrance Exam. Is the Examiner Also a Fan of Sungkyunkwan Scandal?

Park Yoochun Huge Popularity in Thailand Thanks to Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Packed Airport
Male group JYJ’s member and actor Park Yoochun has shown off a heated popularity in Thailand.
Park Yoochun visited Thailand on the afternoon of the 16th for the solo fan meeting that is taking place with the help of the popularity of the drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal that is being aired in Thailand.
In the airport on that day, the fans of the region gathered en masse in order to see Park Yoochun, causing a packed crowd to form. 3000 or so fans received Park Yoochun, shouting “Sunjun” which is the name of Yoochun in the drama.
In the end, the affiliates prepared for any potential emergencies by placing one force of police, and in the scene major broadcast stations and reporters positioned themselves in order to cover Park Yoochun.

Celebrating the first anniversary of the popular KBS drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” cable channel QTVwill air “Sungkyunkwan Scandal : The Movie” on Sept 10.
The two-hour movie is a re-creation of the 20 episodes of the drama and will also feature recent interviews with the four main leads: Park Yoo Chun (as Lee Seon Joon), Park Min Young (as Kim Yoon Hee), Yoo Ah In(as Moon Jae Shin) and Song Joong Ki (as Gu Yong Ha), also known in the drama as the “Jalgeum Quartet” (“quartet made up of outstanding talents”). There will also be NG cuts of Park Yoo Chun that have never been revealed before.
Yoo Ah In said, “Recently I’ve been re-watching Sungkyunkwan Scandal on QTV and it brings back many old memories. I’m looking forward to watching the movie version on QTV during Chuseok.”
Jo Sung Kyung, production head of QTV said, “As a drama so popular that fans proudly called themselves a ‘SungS Fan,’ I feel that it is very meaningful to do this to commemorate its first anniversary. Despite the busy schedules of the main leads, they agreed readily to do the interviews for the ’1st Anniversary of Sungkyunkwan Scandal,’ and I’m very thankful to them.”
He added, “Together with the movie version, there will also be additional footage of behind-the-scenes that have never been revealed before, which I’m sure the fans will look forward to.”
QTV is a cable channel specialising in factual and reality entertainment and is a joint venture between Turner Broadcasting System, Inc and JoongAng Ilbo’s affiliate, ISPLUS.
It was revealed on the 23rd that Best Drama Awards of The 38th Korean Broadcasting Awards go to KBS <Sungkyunkwan Scandal>, EBS <What is school?>, and other 27 broadcasting programs from 31 sectors. Personal Awards go to the late Yeo Woon Kye-nim (Merit Award) and other 24 persons.

The preliminaries for the 2011 Seoul Drama Awards (SDA)have been conducted and the results are out!
The organizing committee for the SDAs announced on July 20th at 11 AM, the results of the preliminaries through a press conference. Under the theme of “Drama Road”, this year’s SDA ceremony has been confirmed to cover 204 works from 37 different countries.
Non-Korean dramas up for awards include the US mini-series “The Walking Dead”, British mini-series “Luther”, Chinese full-length piece “Three Kingdoms”, and German short film “Shades of Happiness”.
From the domestic works side, there are the mini-series “Dream High” and “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho” and the full length projects “Twinkle Twinkle Shining”.
In the Male Actors category, the nominees include Iris Elba from “Luther” and Chun Jenbin from “Three Kingdoms”. In the Female Actress category, Maria Furtwängler from “Shaes Of Happiness”, Laura Linney from “The Big C”, and Na Moon-hee from the one-act play “Grandma, it’s Me”.
In the Hallyu Drama section, there will be seven awards given out. Nominated projects must have been aired from April 1st of 2010 to April 30th of 2011, with exports of $3 million or more. The contenders are“Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Baker King Kim Tak-gu”, “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, “Dream High”, “Dongyi”, “Queen of Reversals”, “My Princess”, “Kim Su-ro”, “Giant”, “Athena: Goddess of War”, “Secret Garden”, “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho”, and “Bad Guy”.
Of course the category that always attracts special interest is the Grand Award for best actor and best actress.
The male nominees are Jang Geun-seok for “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Park Yoo-chun for “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, Song Seung-heon for “My Princess”, Hyunbin for “Secret Garden”, and Kang Ji-hwan for “Coffee House”.
The female nominees are Park Min-young for “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Moon Geun-young for “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Kim Tae-hee for “My Princess”, Lee Yo-won for “49 Days”, and Ha Ji-won for “Secret Garden”.
The soundtrack songs up for recognition are “Found It” by JYJ from “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Please My Bus” by Jang Geun-seok from “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Jungyup’s “Nothing Happened” from “49 Days”, Baek Ji-young’s “That Woman” from “Secret Garden”, and “The One” by Lee Seung-cheol for “Baker King Kim Tak-goo”.
The final results will depend 70% on the votes of the 1 million international Hallyu fans signed up for en.korea.com and 30% on the international broadcasting contents buyers’ votes.
This is with the exception of the Hallyu Drama category’s Director Award and Writer Award, which will be determined by the votes of domestic reporters.
