JYJ Yoochun and Big Bang T.O.P Win Rookie/Popular Awards at Baek Sang Arts Awards

JYJ’s Park Yoochun and Big Bang’s T.O.P each won the “New Actor of the Year Awards” in the TV and movie categories respectively at the 47^th Baek Sang Arts Awards held today. They also won the “Most Popular Actor Awards” in their respective categories, cementing their reputations as talented actors/singers.

Yoochun won the awards in the TV category for his role in KBS drama “Sung Kyun Kwan Scandal” while T.O.P (aka Choi Seung Hyun) was named the winner in the film category for his appearance in “Into the Fire.” It’s interesting how two idol group members won the “New Comer Award” and “Most Popular Award” in each category.

Other notable winners include: Hyun Bin (Best Actor for TV, SBS “Secret Garden”); Lee Byung Hun (Best Actor for Film, “I Saw the Devil”); Yoo In Na (Most Popular Actress for TV, SBS “Secret Garden); Moon Geun Young (Most Popular Actress for TV; KBS “Mary Stayed Out”).

The Baek Sang Arts Awards, founded in 1965, is an annual awards show hosted by IS PLUS Corp., the owner of both Ilkan Sports and Hankook Ilbo (Korea’s top newspapers). It awards the most popular and outstanding Korean films and dramas for each year.

Actor Park Yoochun won Best Male Rookie and Popularity Award in Baeksang Arts Award.

On the 26th evening at Peace Palace of Kyunghee University, Seoul where the ’47th Baeksang Arts Award’ ceremony was held, Park Yoochun was awarded Best Male Rookie Award for Male TV Actor category.

The award was honored to Park Yoochun for the great effort he made while was portraying his role Lee Seon-jun in his debut drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ earlier last year. He beat other line up names of nominees such as Kim Soo-hyun, Ok Taecyeon, and Park Jin-young before was finally able to embrace the honorable award.

Upon receiving the award, Park Yoochun revealed his emotional feeling on his acceptance speech, “It’s been hard for us to catch a chance and shall I say not many good chances come to us as well, thus I’m happy to have such great drama and receiving so much love for it. I also wish there will be more good opportunities like this for us in the future.”

While after his another winning for popularity award, Park Yoochun preached his gratitude for his fellow JYJ members and fans, “After getting hurt, I become even more tougher,” he said the meaningful inner thoughts of him.

The ’2011 Baeksang Arts Award’ is celebrating its 47th anniversary this year, being launched for the first time in 1965, it’s been an event to award all those active producers and actors for both movie and TV sector throughout the year with 15 award categories for TV section and 11 categories for movies.

There is not even one month left before the ceremony for the Paeksang Arts Awards, the best arts festival for poㅔular culture. It will draw its florid curtains on the coming 26th in the Hall of Peace, Kyunghee University, Seoul. Paeksang Arts Awards, which has its 47th (anniversary) this year, is drawing great attention to the drift of the main awards such as those to the works, directors and leads but also those awarded for popularity. This year, in particular in the movies and TV sections about 20 male and female stars (each) made it as candidates for the popularity awards. We examined in the middle (of this process) to see which candidates are indeed receiving the powerful support of the fans…
