[NEWS] 120202 Park Yoochun’s “Rooftop Prince” Holds First Script Reading and Camera Test

The cast and crew of SBS’s upcoming romantic comedy drama “Rooftop Prince” gathered at the Ilsan Production Center late last night, February 1, for the drama’s first script reading. Actors JYJ’s Yoochun (“Miss Ripley“), Han Ji Min (“Padam Padam“), Jung Yumi (“A Thousand Days’ Promise“), Lee Tae Sung(“Hooray for Love”), Lee Min Ho (“The Moon that Embraces the Sun“), Jung Suk Won (“Ojakgyo Brothers“) and the rest of the cast met each other for the first time. Production director Shin Yoon Sub and screenwriter Lee Hee Myung also sat in on the reading. Prior to the reading, the actors participated in a camera test, where they wore their hanboks and zoned into their characters. 

The drama is about a Chosun era Crown Prince (Park Yoo Chun) who travels 300 years to the present to reunite with his dead Crown Princess (Han Ji Min). Historical-fusion-contemporary-fantasy drama “Rooftop Prince” will premiere on SBS once Gu Hye Sun’s “Please Take Care of Us, Captain” ends mid-March.

[NEWS] 120116 Will Park Yoochun – Moon Chaewon of “Rooftop Prince” become the second So Jisub – Sung Yuri?

Attention is gathering with regards to if Park Yoochun and Moon Chaewon will become a couple in Rooftop Prince. Park Yoochun and Moon Chaewon were offered, and are positively considering, their respective roles in SBS’s new drama Rooftop Prince. The drama is about the time leap between Joseon Dynasty and the modern times.

An official of Rooftop Prince said, “Hallyu star Park Yoochun’s acting skills were recognized through historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal and melodrama Miss Ripley. This character that travels from Joseon Dynasty into the modern times should be backed up by his acting skills. The leading actress Moon Chaewon who had a very enthusiastic year with movie The Bow and drama The Princess’ Man is on the rise. We’re in close discussions with Moon Chaewon’s side.” 

Rooftop Prince is said to be the second  Thousand Years of Love, which attracts attention of broadcasters. In 2003, Thousand Years of Love gathered sensational popularity and released Sung Yuri from the “Idol-born actor” label. Rooftop Prince will be directed by Shin Yoon-seob PD of KAIST, Love in Heaven and Lovers. The drama is scheduled to be aired from 14th March after Take Care of Us, Captain.

The Crown Prince loses his wife and leaps over 300 years to Seoul in 21st Century. He falls in love with a person who looks like his wife in the past life, which forms a fantasy romance. The drama’s casting will be confirmed soon.

[NEWS] 120110 SungKyungKwan leads Park Yoochun and Yoo Ah In: Coming to SBS Television dramas in March

JYJ member and actor Park Yoochun along with actor Yoo Ah In are being said to be the two leads for upcoming SBS dramas in March.

Yoo Ah In is coming to television in March with the broadcast of his new drama Fashion House, while there have been confirmed appearances of Park Yoochun entering the building where the drama that he was asked to star in, Crown Prince of the Rooftop House, is currently being filmed. In 2009, these two popular actors led to the box office success of the KBS2 drama SungKyungKwan Scandal, and once again they will be meeting each other on SBS television.

Filming for Yoo Ah In’s Fashion House will start at the end of the month and will also star Shin Se Kyung, as well as SNSD’s Kwon Yuri, for whom this will be her first drama. They will leave for the United States [for filming] at the month’s end. 

Last year Park Yoochun’s role in MBC’s Miss Ripley showed that he will be able to deliver a promising performance as the protagonist in Crown Prince of the Rooftop House. Multiple broadcast officials have said “Park Yoochun seems to be looking at Crown Prince of the Rooftop House positively, and while it still is not confirmed, there have been verbal agreements to some extent that have been made”. Crown Prince of the Rooftop house is an SBS drama about a man who time travels from the Joseon Period to the present and is written by Lee Hee-myeong, who has also worked on the dramas Mr. Q, Tomato, My Fair Lady, and Bad Family.
